Roka Ceremony

Roka Ceremony

The beginning of the newly married life for the couple starts from Roka ceremony. The pre-wedding ceremony is held at bride's home or the venue confirmed by her parents. It is the general assumption that roka ceremony is the first event of wedding in which both the families of bride and groom gather at a place and confirm their novel relationship to each other. On the background of the ceremony, matchmaking of both the mates is being done by the priest. Once the matchmaking is done, roka ceremony is held on the consent of the families of bride and groom.

The roka ceremony is the event that is mostly popular in Punjabi tradition. It is depended on the budget of the family to conduct it as a big function or just a simple one. During the ceremony, both bride and groom wear designer clothes or ethnic wear along with matching colors to look as the prettiest couple amongst all. Both the families bring gifts, sweets, fruits and dry fruits to exchange with each other and greeted best wishes for the better future of the upcoming married couple.

After all the rituals and customs being performed at the roka ceremony, the relatives of both the families enjoy dancing at the DJ and take pleasure of mouth-watering food served by the hosting family, throughout the night. At the end, the relatives congratulate each other and promise to meet again at the further ceremonies. Therefore, roka ceremony is the first step into the new journey of newly bonded families, particularly the bride and groom.
