Wedding Cake Tips

Wedding cake has much value; it is a piece of art and a symbol of your love and affection. Wedding cakes are what all eyes will be focused at after the ceremony. In fact, its significance increases as the first thing a newly wed couple would be doing together is cutting the cake itself.

Coming in different sizes, shapes and flavors, wedding cakes are often embellished with toppers, icing and flowers, both artificial and natural.

Firstly, decide what kind of cake you would like to have; will it be the traditional tiered and iced fruit cake; a tall and modern display of individual cup cakes; a chocolate fudge extravaganza or a fabulous French fancy.

Order early
It is the best advice to order your wedding cake much earlier from your big day. In fact, four to five months are regarded as suitable time period for ordering. The thing with cakes is that a multi tiered cake takes months to be made as it needs to be iced in different stages.

Cake timing
Make sure that the finished cakes are delivered at the reception venue and are stored at a safe and secure place. There should be a suitable cake stand and knife. Your cake designer may even provide this if you don't have them and even let you hire it. Ideally, wedding cakes should be delivered unassembled and then the tiers put together in situ. But, with a stacked cake, the designer has to put together beforehand.

Cutting cake prices
It has become increasingly popular option to order for readymade cakes. You can even indulge in the fun and process of decorating it, to cut down on a tight budget. Toppers or fresh flowers can be added to the cake as per one's wish. You can save more on wedding breakfasts costs and serve your wedding cake as dessert with ice cream, or hot chocolate.
Above all, the emphasis is to commission a creative cake designer who can make a wonderful novelty cake especially if you're having a themed wedding. You might also ask him to put your own photo in icing as well. A talented cake maker will provide you with various designs and work on any of your ideas.
