Catering Tips for Wedding

Catering and the food bill accounts for the highest percentage from the wedding budget amounting to some 45 to 50% of the total sum allotted for the marriage. Choose your caterer carefully. You must instruct him and discuss with him about your budget, the style of reception you would like to have (i.e. buffet, food stations, sit down dinner or cocktail reception) and not to forget about the menu you think is preferable. Apart from this, you can also have a sample of his culinary skills and learn about the taste of the types of the food he prepares. More than this, you should have a before hand knowledge on the ways of how the food are presented.

While hiring caterer, you can at least make two calls for reference and ask them about their experiences with the caterer. There is nothing to be shy off as brides loves to talk about their weddings.

See some sample and learn about the dinnerware or china they will be using. Many a times, caterer who include the price of dinnerware uses chipped, scratched, worn out stuffs that might seriously disturb the harmony with other wedding decorations.

Do not forget to ask the ratio of server to guests, as anything less than required will hamper the services and affect guests' moods. It is wise to have a server for every 8-10 persons.

Don't forget to headcount your photographer, wedding coordinator, DJ for the meal. Tell the caterer that they be given their meals out of sight from the guests. Also, tell them to prepare a leftover basket of all the foods at your wonderful reception. Brides and grooms may not get to eat during the reception because of the excitement and the congratulatory wishes from the guests. It might also make for a late night snack.
